English is a main universal language that is use around the
world. The core idea of using a standard language enables people to interact
and connect easily with others. This is especially so for those that may have
different mother tongue language background.
Hence, personally I feel that English is a very important
language to learn. From the start of education in Primary until Secondary
school, I had to painstakingly go through English lessons and examinations throughout my first 10 years of student life. It was a horrific journey learning and getting passable grades for it. As the government focuses part of its people’s education to be literate in
English, this definitely shows the significance of the language as a whole. To
me, being knowledgeable in English has given me the power to socially interact
and understand others. Being conversant in English has also place prominence in
the working world and basically everyday life.
In all honesty, no one is able to avoid from learning and using English in their life. Personally I feel it is a difficult language to master (in terms of being grammatically correct etc). However to be successful in life, we have to understand that English would open many doors of opportunities especially in this era where Social Networking is prominent. Thus we shouldn't underestimate the capabilities of the English Language but continue to learn and use it.

Hi Shar,
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I strongly agree with what you have posted. It was a terrible 10-years of English for me too. But we all know how important English is.
From the post, I am able to 'see' from your point of view how English is important to you.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Marcus
Thank you, Sha, for this clear and concise first post. I appreciate the way you have contextualized the use and importance of English globally. You also touch on how it was a pain for you. What might have brought this assertion to life is some explanation. What made the journey so 'horrific'?
ReplyDeleteI also think you might explain specifically how having English is going to be vital in your studies and future career.
For the time being, we need to focus on the ways in which I can help your effort. To that end, here are a few areas to consider:
1) ...that is use around the world. >>> (verb form)
2) Hence, personally I feel that English is a very important language to learn. >>> Is "hence" needed here?
3)From the start of education in Primary until Secondary school, I had to painstakingly go through English lessons and examinations throughout my first 10 years of student life. >>> (verbose)
4) As the government focuses part of its people’s education to be literate in English, this definitely shows the significance of the language as a whole. >>> (odd sentence structure)
5) Being conversant in English has also place prominence in the working world and basically everyday life. >>> Being conversant in English also has a place of prominence in the working world and in everyday life.
6) to avoid from learning and using English in their life. >>> (collocation) to avoid learning
7) the English Language >>> the English language
I look forward to reading more form you this term.
Hi sha!
ReplyDeleteGreat way of describing the 'painful journey' of having to go through English examinations for nearly 10 years of our lives, a lot of us can definitely relate to that! Indeed we do not realize the importance of being fluent in English and how it will affect our capabilities and competency in the real working world. I myself believe that English Language is necessary to be successful in almost everything we do.
Hopefully we both can work towards improving even further and excel in our English Language :)
Cheers,
Sandra
Hello Sha (:
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a comment on my post, i'm here to return the favour (: Also, i have added your link on my blog at the affiliates tab :>
To comment about your post, I totally agree about the fact that no one can run away from learning English ! And that it is a difficult language to master with the wide range of vocabulary and grammar..
But hopefully............. This class will help us all in improving our English and perhaps make us fall in love with it? You'll never know right? haha
Take care.
